How to Organize your Small Camper and Make it Feel Like Home

When you set out on your journey for the first time in your travel trailer, you want it feel like home. You want it to feel as comfortable as possible, despite the size of your rig. In this post, I will share with you all the things that my husband and I have done over the past few years to make it feel like a home on wheels when we're traveling.

1. RV Living Room
When traveling with dogs, your furniture can take the brunt of the damage. That is why we decided on buying a couch cover. We bought our couch cover at Walmart and we couldn't be happier with it.

We also bought an area rug that fits perfectly between the living area and the kitchen.

2. Bedroom Essentials
We all know that in a small rig, it can be difficult to fit any clothes into your closet. The solution is a hanging closet organizer. It is also a good idea to have a bedside storage bin so that you can store essential items that you use regularly or need to store near you while in bed.
3. Shelving and Bins
The next essential item that you need in your camper is some kind of shelving and bin options to keep the kitchen organized. We have very limited space in our RV and we found it very difficult to store food, especially in the over-the-couch storage because things kept moving around and it was hard to get to everything. We decided to reorganize and use the closet area near the refrigerator as a pantry (probably its intended purpose). We bought two 36" white wire shelves from Lowes and cute them to fir the dimensions of the pantry area. We decided to only put three shelves in, but we have an extra one if we change our mind. If we do want to add another shelf, it will be very easy to add on because they are sitting on top of command hooks.

Another useful item are bins to keep things from moving around in the cabinets and refrigerator. This also keeps items from falling out when you open the door (most of the time). We bought the plastic bins from Amazon. They come in packs of four. They are used in the refrigerator as well as the cabinet above the stove to store kitchen essentials.

Misc. Storage
You will always need to have baskets to put small items in such as tools and other miscellaneous gadgets. The baskets can be purchased at the Dollar Tree. The shelves were bought on Amazon. The shelves are stackable if needed. They are being used to organize the dog items (towels, toys, treats) and I have another set sitting on the counter top.

4. Bathroom Storage
Our bathroom is SUPER TINY so it is difficult to find places to store ANYTHING! One solution was to buy a hanging closet organizer and attach it to an over-the-door basket above the toilet. We put rolled up towels in the basket and store soaps and first aid items in the hanging storage below it. This came in a package of two. The other one can be used for ACTUAL closet storage.

There's not much else that can fit in the bathroom, but this has been a much-needed space-saver for this TINY room.
